Daily Inspiration – Blue Monday

Mondays. The day everyone can’t stand. The day that always brings you back to reality. The day you never want to come. Too extreme? Maybe. True? Yes. I wish weekends were longer sometimes. Today is not only Monday, but it’s my Mom’s birthday. Is a day that makes me wish we lived closer so we could all spend it together. Love you Mom! Here is a print that made me smile and identified with my day.

Do you like Mondays? Or do you hate them? What’s your take?

Hope you smile!

Daily Inspiration – Happy Friday!

Last night I had a change to catch up with some old friends. The kind of friends you see after some time and feel like you weren’t apart at all. You know what I’m talking about? I love those moments. (Too cheesy?) Anyways, I saw this tree below while taking our puppy out for a walk. For some strange reason I had to take a picture. I love Spring !

Do you take random pictures like me? What’s your favorite thing about Spring?

Hope you have a lovely Friday!

Inspiration Nook Cravings – Corn Casserole

Is it too late to talk about Easter? Maybe. We can make an exception for Corn right? No. Well maybe for a Corn Casserole?! Are you still with me? Good. I made this bad boy on Easter Sunday and boy was he bad! I ate the whole thing almost by myself. (Don’t judge me) Too late? During any holiday the fun thing about Pinterest, is that recipes start popping up like crazy. Sometimes I remember a holiday is coming thanks to Pinterest. So when I found this recipe, I knew it would be one of our side dishes for Easter. The ingredients are super easy to find, some you might have already. The recipe (found here) was actually super easy too. You know, just like I like them. I was in love with the packaging from one of ingredients that I needed,” Jiffy’s  Corn Muffin Mix”. It was so retro that I literally took a picture of it just to show you. After about 55 minutes in the oven you will have the best corn casserole you will ever have. No joke.

Do you like Corn Casserole? What did you make for Easter?

Hope you get inspired!

Daily Inspiration – Happy First Blog Anniversary To Me!

Yes, you read that right. Today marks the first year of this little nook coming to you live from L.A. Well, not live but you get the point, HAHA. I still can’t believe it has been a full year since I posted this little friend (here). Like my Dad always says: “Time flies when you’re having fun”. I was in shock when I found out I’ve reached a total of 25,865 people, from 137 different countries… Yes I counted! (Thanks Google Analytics). I know it’s not much compared to some of my favorite blogs, but I don’t care. I’m happy to have at least one reader. So THANK YOU from the bottom of my crazy heart for reading my little blog.

Here are some of my favorite posts from this past year!… In no specific order:

Our new office/guest room makeover! (here)

Pictures Filled With Love (here) from the engagement session of my now “newlywed” friends!

My Banana Muffins post (here) from my mom’s Banana Bread recipe!

My flea market adventures (As seen here, here, here, here & most recently here.) Not to forget some Thrift Stores (here)

The special 4th of July Strawberries (here)

The West Elm Grand Opening (Where I got to meet Emily Henderson from HGTV ….here)

Some of my DIY projects from the Heart Bokeh (here), to some awesome bracelets (here), to making old bottles of wine into flower pots (here)

At the end, it has been a great year to let my creativity free. I have learned a lot. Cooked a ton. I’ve expressed myself in many different ways and most of all through my photography. I’ve also met new friends along the way that I wouldn’t have ever met if it wasn’t for this blog.

I hope you enjoyed this first year with me and hope you come back for many more! Again, THANK YOU for being my awesome reader!

Daily Inspiration – Our Office/Guest room Makeover!

This has to be by far one of my favorite projects ever. From working together with the mister, to making a space that fits both our needs and style. As long as we can remember our home office/guest room had always been used as a guest room/storage space. It was time for a change and we were both up for the challenge. We brainstormed some ideas and then we made the big decision… we will build our own desk! The first thing that came to my mind was John & Sherry’s desk from Young House Love. See below.

I had followed their whole thought process last year & I knew it would be fun to make our own. I Just never thought we would do the same. We also looked at this great tutorial over at Aubrey and Lindsay’s blog and we were sold. Look at theirs below…

Aren’t those two desks enough to convince you? We though it was the best thing we could do to take advantage of our little space. Our room also had a “Green Bay Packer’s Green” on the walls (a very dark green) so there was lots of priming and painting to do. Of course, I forgot to take a picture of the “green room” before starting because I was so pumped. I decided to create a “Chevron” accent wall (the mister agreed, yes I still pinch myself) Call me crazy, but I love painting. So while one of us was painting the other one was on “desk” duty.

Who am I kidding? I stayed on painting duty the whole time.

We tackled this whole project in a weekend, we were both super sore but it was all worth it. We now have a special room that we made our own. There is built-in storage in the cabinets we used for the desk which helps keep it all organized. There is also a special place for my grandpa’s typewriter. Well, enough talking… take a look!

Can you tell why this is my favorite project? Have you built your own desk? Have you done a chevron style wall too?

Hope you get inspired!

Daily Inspiration – Grandpa’s Typewriter

Almost a year ago I wrote about how much I like typewriters (here). I’ve mentioned how special they are to me (since growing up my grandpa had a ton). I always played with them and watched him work, always admiring their sound. I wish my computer had a typewriter sound effect sometimes, HAHA. Anyways, long story short, my family read my post, and made it possible for me to have one of my grandpa’s typewriters! Yes, that’s right, one of his own is now in our apartment. I still pinch myself sometimes. We recently re-did our office (pictures coming soon) and all I cared about was making the perfect spot for it. Take a look, she’s beautiful. Yes, it’s a she and I haven’t decided on a name yet.

Isn’t she pretty? Do you like typewriters too?

Hope you get inspired!

Disclaimer: Gracias familia bella! I promise I’ll always take good care of her.

Daily Inspiration – Miike Snow @El Rey Theater

I had the chance to go see Miike Snow this week at El Rey. He was amazing live! It was my first time at this venue too, and it was incredible. The show, the lights, the crowd, everything was awesome. I would recommend anyone to go see him. He closed the show with my favorite song “Animal”. I’m sure is the favorite for many of you out there too. Take a look at some of my pics.  All of these were taken with my iphone… but I still love them!

Are you a fan of Miike Snow too? Have you been to any cool shows lately? Which one is your fave?

Hope you smile!

Daily Inspiration – Michael Pitt

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned how I loved this great Neiman Marcus campaign featuring Susan Sarandon and her daughter (here). Well, to my surprise I also found this. Prada’s new campaign featuring the one and only Michael Pitt. If you watch Boardwalk Empire, you might see a side of Jimmy. If you don’t, well you might like the pictures too. The pictures were taken by portrait photographer David Sim. Well done Mr. Sim, well done. Take a look for yourself and you be the judge.

What do you think? I love the classic look. If you want to see more check out this Behind the Scenes clip (here).

Do you like the campaign too? Do you watch Boardwalk Empire?

Hope you smile!
